n an escalation of a deepening conflict that is endangering the stability of the Republic of the Philippines, Platform 52, largest of the nations MHPs (moored habitation platforms) has launched another attack on Manila.

Long regarded as the most rebellious of the platforms, thousands of dwellers from Platform 52 have poured into Manila setting fire to buildings, jamming the speed walkways and destroying raycars.

Land rights demands have become increasingly strident and violent since the early 3070s when more than 2000 MHP people were drowned in a major typhoon. Since that tragic event, a new militancy has grown and spread around the world's giantic 127 MHPs, which now support more than four per cent of the world's population.

UN Secretary-General Maria Cometti said that the UN would send an official envoy to Manila within days, in an effort to defuse the anger that is growing amongst the MHP people, many of whom have never set foot on land.
